what is the skinny apartment?

the skinny apartment is the apartment i have lived in since 2021 in ridgewood, queens. it is a quasi-railroad style apartment with an extremely narrow hallway joining the rooms together. there have been shows hosted in this apartment since its inaugural show in july of 2016, marking prior tenant david drucker's 29th birthday. the shows here are curated by david and myself and we generally have shows roughly once a month. they are (almost) always on a saturday and we end them by midnight as to not completely alienate our neighbors. if you are lucky and stick around after, there is usually legendary karaoke to close out the post-show.

can i book a show at the skinny apartment?

if you're coming here to ask this question then probably not. we don't really do "rentals" or host shows for people like that... it's a tiny living room.

where is the skinny apartment?

if you need the address for the skinny apartment, i highly recommend emailing me or DMing me on bluesky. i don't publish this information publicly. you could also ask around!

access information?

the apartment is up a 6 stair stoop and on the first floor of the building. the space itself is very tight and can be difficult to navigate for people with needs for mobility accommodations, especially when many people are in attendance - be advised that this is especially pertinent for bathroom and backyard access. we are happy to attempt to try to accommodate people as best as possible, but cannot make any guarantees considering our space restraints. keep in mind this place is called "the skinny apartment" for a reason - the hallway to get from the showspace to the bathroom and yard is under 3 feet wide. the entirety of the place is a little claustrophobic - for better or for worse. for more in-detail mobility access information or to make an accommodation request in advance, please attempt to get in contact with us and we'll do our best. there is wheelchair-enabled public transportation that gets you pretty close to the spot, just ask us for the address for bus info.

skinny is 18+ by default although if you're young and come with your parent or guardian it's a-ok! use discretion. most of what we book has varying levels of sensory intensity. we recommend you bring earplugs, especially if you are sensitive to auditory stimulus. if you ask for earplugs and we have them we'll happily give them to you for free, but supplies are not consistently regular. there's a couple corner stores within a block of the apartment where most resources can be purchased inexpensively in the event we don't have them on hand. if you have difficulty with photosensitivity ask ahead of time if there will be visual effects at the show - this is not always the case and frequently not the case, but occasionally video artists will come and strobe.

there is a yard, but it is a little trecherous to navigate. if you are looking for a quiet place to decompress amidst the energy of the show, it may not the best place if you struggle with loudness as we are located directly underneath a subway stop and the train overhead can get pretty loud when standing outside.

we carry narcan and fentanyl testing strips - ask and you shall receive.

we are not responsible for any lost or stolen items, but we're also not heartless - we can help you out to the best of our abilities but cannot make any guarantees.
